Caramel Cake

Decorating a Caramel Cake

Few things in life are as indulgent and delightful as a caramel cake. The perfect blend of moist sponge and rich, gooey caramel can make any occasion a little sweeter. But why settle for a plain caramel cake when you can turn it into a work of art? In this blog post, we'll take you step-by-step through the process of decorating a caramel cake that will not only taste amazing but also look absolutely stunning.

What You'll Need

Before we get started, let's gather our supplies:

1. Two 8-inch Caramel Nude Cakes
2. Caramel frosting (homemade or store-bought)
3. Caramel
4. Toppings of your choice (we recommend Maltesers, buttons and fudge pieces)
6. Pallet Knife (or you can use a spoon!)
7. Piping bags and tip (for decorating)

Step 1: Split The Cakes

Start by taking your two 8-inch sponge cakes and carefully cutting each one in half horizontally, creating four even layers in total. This will give you more room for the delicious caramel frosting.
Step 2: Fill The Cakes

Now, spread a generous layer of caramel frosting on the top of the first cake layer. Place the second layer on top and repeat the process until all four layers are stacked with caramel frosting in between. Make sure to evenly distribute the frosting.
Step 3: Dripping Caramel

Now comes the fun part! Heat some caramel sauce until it's warm and slightly runny. Gently pour it over the top of the cake, allowing it to drip down the sides. You can control the intensity of the drips by pouring more or less caramel sauce.

Step 4: Swirls and Toppings

To add a touch of elegance to your caramel cake, use a piping bag and your favourite decorating tip to create swirls of caramel frosting around the top edge of the cake.

Finally, it's time to sprinkle your chosen toppings over the cake. We love the combination of malt balls and fudge pieces for their contrasting textures and flavours, but feel free to get creative and use whatever you like.

Step 5: Enjoy Your Masterpiece

Now that your caramel cake is beautifully decorated, it's time to slice and serve. 4 layers of moist sponge, caramel frosting, and gooey caramel sauce, combined with delightful toppings!
